Games Report - Vista, San Diego Remember what I said about all these Games and doing it until we get it right ? We got it very nearly right in San Diego--a few more of you there and it would have been perfect ! The weather in Vista was so fine and the fellowship was great. Our crack crew spent hours in conversation with Gordons and Gordon wannabees and many went home with a Gordon shirt or mouse pad memento (see our "Gear" pages) of the Games and we signed up some great new members from the area. Saturday night, as announced, we cleared away the day's trappings from the tent area and Tom, Arlene and Christine Adams broke out the grills to prepare a feast for the hungry horde (we had somewhere over thirty Gordons party with us that night). Everyone ate their fill and then we were serenaded by the Todd/Parker Pipes and Drums. Honestly, I think Bryce's drumming was more that a match for GW's efforts on the pipe chanter. Bill Graham gave the old chanter a try and even sang a bit before we wandered off into the sunset ! It really was a fun evening and plans are already afoot to repeat next year. Thanks to all who had a hand in this very successful party-time ! After a little time off--and our long-touted trip to Scotland for the Gordon 2000 celebrations--we will see you next at the Monster Games at Pleasanton on Labor Day weekend, September 1 - 3, 2000. Plan to stop by the tent for a chat and some shade. We are always glad to see our friends and to greet new friends who want to talk about Scottish culture. Thanks for the visit here ! |
